RANT OF THE WEEK ! Access road too little too late

Am I the only one that thinks the Cliffsend bypass where the work is fully underway building new roads etc is about 10 years too late ?

Im assuming the main reason for this road was the pure traffic using it to go to the Pfizer site in Sandwich.

With Pfizer laying off more people every week i can help but think this scheme which will be costing the tax payer is ( just like the Ramsgate Ferry terminal access road) a few years too late ??

More info taken from the KCC website here
----------------------------------------------------

Phase 2 is the improvement of the A299 between Minster roundabout and the Lord of the Manor junction, and improvement of the A256 between Lord of the Manor junction and connecting with phase 1 at the old Richborough power station site.

Phase 1 was the earlier improvement of the A256 southwards to connect to Sandwich bypass, including a link road around the south side of the Pfizer complex.

The purpose of the scheme is to improve accessibility and safety. It will help support the economy of east Kent and connect the ports of Dover and Ramsgate and Kent International Airport. This will complete improvements of the A299 Thanet Way and A256 that were started in the 1980s.

Phase 2 is an improvement to dual carriageway standard. Features include taking the road in an underpass beneath Foads Hill and the railway at Cliffsend, and over the railway at Cottington Lane.

  1. You are not alone, by the time Kent council gets off its bottom, sorts out stuff the world has generally moved on.

Take a look at Turner Contemporary 4 years late I think, still who's counting.
